Lemonade Diet Prep: How to Safely Prepare Your Body
The lemonade diet is a 10 to 30 day fast that involves drinking a mixture of water, lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper and not eating any food. Additionally, you must drink a laxative tea and perform a salt water flush in order to cleanse your colon. Doing the lemonade diet can be hard on your body--you'll be hungry and experience detoxing side effects such as headaches for the first few days. Reduce the pain by preparing your body for the lemonade diet.Things You'll Need
- Fresh fruits and vegetables
- Whole foods
Instructions
Eliminate processed foods from your diet. Focus your diet on healthy, whole foods. Avoid all junk foods, sugar and white flours, including bread and pasta. You may want to start this about a week before you do the lemonade diet. Your body will start to detox from the lack of these foods. However, you'll still be able to eat other foods.
Eat only fruits and vegetables. Two days before you start the lemonade diet, eliminate all foods except for fruits and vegetables. Your stomach will start to shrink from the lack of food and this will make it easier for you to stick with the fast.
Drink only juice and water. Prepare your body for the master cleanse by drinking only juice and water the day before you start. This further shrinks your stomach in preparation for the diet.
Make a sincere commitment. Part of achieving success on the lemonade diet is being mentally prepared for the challenges you'll face. Remember that you won't be doing the diet forever and make a commitment to stick it out for the whole diet.
