Tenuate vs. Tenuate Dospan: Understanding the Differences
Tenuate and Tenuate Dospan are the brand names for two different forms of the prescription weight loss supplement Diethlyproprion Hydrochloride. Both forms increase the metabolism and suppress the appetite, but they differ in dosage and how they are released into the system.-
Release
-
Tenuate is the immediate-release form of the supplement, meaning it releases the active ingredient into the system as soon as you take it. Tenuate Dospan is the supplement in controlled-release (or extended-release) form, meaning it releases the active ingredient slowly into the system over a period of time after you take it.
Dosage
-
Tenuate usually comes in a 25 milligram dose to take three times per day, an hour before mealtimes. Tenuate Dospan normally comes in a 75 milligram dose to take once per day, at mid-morning.
Missed Doses
-
If you miss a dose of Tenuate, resume taking your normal dose at your next meal as scheduled. If you miss a dose of Tenuate Dospan, take the missed dose as soon as you realize it, unless a full day has passed, in which case skip the dose and resume your normal schedule.
