Ethex041 (Omeprazole): What It Is, Uses & Side Effects
The pill Ethex041 is Omeprazole which belongs to a group of medicines called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). It works by reducing the amount of acid produced in your stomach.
It is used to:
- Treat ulcers in your stomach or gut.
- Help stop stomach ulcers from coming back after they have healed.
- Treat problems caused by too much stomach acid, such as gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
- Help stop you getting stomach ulcers if you are taking anti-inflammatory medicines (such as aspirin or ibuprofen).
Omeprazole is sometimes given together with antibiotics to help treat an infection called Helicobacter pylori. This infection may be a cause of ulcers in your stomach or gut.
