Caffeine and Diabetes: Safe Daily Intake & Considerations
The American Diabetes Association states there is no evidence to suggest an upper daily limit on healthy caffeine consumption based on blood sugar control or diabetes, however, too much may worsen sleep (which can impair BG control in the body.)
Most studies use daily ranges of 100 - 400mg of caffeine per day (about two to five six-ounce cups of coffee). Always consume moderate amounts and never increase the amount of the substance with the idea of improving perceived efficacy. Always discuss supplementation and/or dietary change with your Primary Care Provider and Registered Dietitian.
