Causes of Midline Breakage in Maxillary Dentures: Prevention & Solutions
* Improper impression techniques. If the impression is not taken accurately, it can result in a denture that does not fit properly and is more likely to break.* Poor denture design. A denture that is not designed properly can put too much stress on the midline, causing it to break.
* Excessive occlusal force. If the patient bites down too hard on the denture, it can put too much stress on the midline and cause it to break.
* Bruxism. Bruxism is a condition in which the patient grinds their teeth at night. This can put a lot of stress on the denture and cause it to break.
* Trauma. If the denture is dropped or hit, it can break.
