Speed Teeth: Does It Cause Decay or Damage Fillings?

Speed does not cause tooth decay (caries) or damage dental fillings. Tooth decay results from the acid produced by harmful bacteria in the mouth when certain kinds of food, especially sweets, get into contact with your teeth. These acids begin to eat into the protective enamel. Over time this will form into a small hole known as a cavity. Fillings may loosen or wear from biting or chewing forces of hard candies and ice.
