What did Egyptians brush there teeth with?

Egyptians brushed their teeth with a paste made from burnt ashes, pumice, and burnt eggshells, which they applied with a twig. Some Egyptians also used a type of toothpaste made from natron, a salt that was used as a cleaning agent.
