Bleach Ingestion: Risks, Symptoms, and Immediate Medical Help
One sip of bleach can be extremely harmful and even fatal. Bleach is a corrosive substance that can cause severe damage to the mouth, throat, and esophagus. It can also lead to stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting. In severe cases, bleach can cause respiratory problems, kidney failure, and even death.
If you have accidentally swallowed bleach, it is important to seek medical attention immediately. Do not induce vomiting, as this can make the situation worse. Drink plenty of water to dilute the bleach and try to avoid breathing in the fumes. If possible, rinse your mouth with baking soda and water.
