Understanding Tooth Loss: A Guide to Deciduous & Permanent Teeth
The primary/milk/deciduous teeth that are lost are:
- Central incisors: These are the middle two teeth at the front of your mouth.
- Lateral incisors: These are the four teeth to the left and right of your central incisors.
- Canines: These are the sharp teeth located at the corners of your mouth.
- First molars: These are the four teeth located behind your canines.
- Second molars: These are the four teeth located at the back of your mouth.
These teeth generally fall out naturally or may be extracted by a dentist between the ages of 6 and 12, making way for permanent teeth to grow in.
