How to Brush Teeth After a Wisdom Tooth Extraction
Wisdom teeth are often extracted to leave enough room for the rest of the teeth. After the extraction, there will be gauze over the surgical area that needs to remain for the first 30 minutes. After the gauze is removed, you can brush your teeth at anytime if you use the proper technique and take several precautions.Things You'll Need
- Toothpaste
- Toothbrush
- Salt
Instructions
Apply a pea-size amount of toothpaste over a wet toothbrush. Scrub the rest of the teeth in small, circular motions, being very careful not to bump or brush any part of the where the wisdom tooth was extracted.
Lean over the sink and let any excess toothpaste foam fall from your mouth. Take a gulp of water and move your head from side to side to rinse away any remaining toothpaste. Do not swish. Allow the water to fall from your mouth rather than spitting.
Mix a teaspoon of salt with a cup of warm water and gently rinse your mouth out the same way as before, without swishing or spitting.
