Post-Root Canal Antibiotics: What's Recommended?
Amoxicillin is the most commonly prescribed antibiotic after a root canal. Because it is effective against a wide range of bacteria that can cause infection in the root canal space.
Clindamycin is recommended if you are allergic to penicillin.
Metronidazole is another option if you are allergic to both penicillin and clindamycin.
Your doctor may recommend a different antibiotic based on your individual medical history and the specific bacteria that are causing the infection.
