What is nerve root compromise?
Nerve root compromise, also called radiculopathy, is a condition that occurs when there is pressure on a nerve root, which is the bundle of nerve fibers that connects the spinal cord to the body. This can cause a variety of symptoms, including pain, numbness, tingling, weakness, and muscle spasms. Common causes of nerve root compromise include: - Herniated disk - Bone spur - Spinal stenosis - Arthritis - Trauma
Nerve root compromise can be a serious condition, but it can often be treated with conservative measures such as rest, ice, and physical therapy. In some cases, surgery may be necessary to relieve pressure on the nerve root.
