Quick Relief: How to Eliminate Unpleasant Mouth Tastes
Having a bad taste in your mouth can make you feel sour all over. Bad tastes can include a metal-like flavor, acidic flavor or a general grimy taste and feel in your mouth. While a bad taste in your mouth can be caused by a few things, including heartburn, morning breath or food stuck in your teeth, removing the unpleasant taste is easy and can make you feel refreshed and renewed.Things You'll Need
- Toothbrush
- ½ teaspoon of baking soda
- Toothpaste
- Tongue scraper
- Dental floss
- 1 tablespoon of mouth rinse
- Antacid
Instructions
Dampen your tooth brush and scatter half a teaspoon of baking soda over the bristles, then squeeze some toothpaste onto your brush. Brush you teeth for two and a half minutes, making sure to get the front and back teeth and tongue.
Use a tongue scraper. Starting at the back of your tongue on one side, pull it forward slowly, applying very light pressure to your tongue. Work across your tongue from front to back, rinsing your scraper after every stroke.
Take one tablespoon of mouth rinse and swish it in your mouth for 30 seconds, longer if the specific brand instructs. Floss your teeth with mint-flavored floss after spitting out mouth rinse.
Quit smoking. Smoking can not only be the underlying factor of a bad taste in your mouth, but can also worsen bad tastes that might be caused by other things. If you cannot quit, refrain until the bad taste dissipates.
Take an over-the-counter antacid. Indigestion and reflux can be present even if you don't feel symptoms and both can cause a sour taste in your mouth. Read all warnings with regard to dosage and drug interactions prior to taking.
