Understanding Bone Cavities: A Guide to Medullary, Haversian & More
1. Medullary cavity: This is the central cavity of a bone, which contains bone marrow.
2. Haversian canals: These are small channels that run through the bone and contain blood vessels and nerves.
3. Volkmann's canals: These are larger channels that connect the Haversian canals to the surface of the bone.
4. Lacunae: These are small spaces in the bone that contain osteocytes, which are cells that help to maintain the bone tissue.
5. Canaliculi: These are tiny channels that connect the lacunae to each other and to the Haversian canals.
