Incision Drainage Wound Care: A Step-by-Step Guide
Materials:
* Sterile gloves
* Sterile saline or wound cleanser
* Sterile cotton-tipped applicators or gauze pads
* Non-adherent dressing
* Adhesive tape or Tegaderm
* Pain medication, if needed
Instructions:
1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
2. Put on sterile gloves.
3. Remove the old dressing from the wound.
4. Inspect the wound for any signs of infection, such as redness, swelling, or drainage.
5. Gently cleanse the wound with sterile saline or wound cleanser.
6. Use sterile cotton-tipped applicators or gauze pads to remove any debris from the wound.
7. Apply a non-adherent dressing to the wound.
8. Secure the dressing with adhesive tape or Tegaderm.
9. Take pain medication, if needed.
