Understanding Why Dull Needles Cause More Pain
A dull needle hurts more than a sharp needle because it causes more tissue damage. When a sharp needle pierces the skin, it creates a clean, narrow incision that heals quickly. A dull needle, on the other hand, tears and frays the skin, creating a larger wound that is more prone to infection and pain.
Additionally, a dull needle requires more force to penetrate the skin, which can cause additional tissue damage and pain. The increased pressure can also damage the nerves in the area, leading to a tingling sensation or numbness.
For these reasons, it is always important to use a sharp needle when piercing the skin. Dull needles should be disposed of properly to avoid accidental injury.
