Knee Injury Protection: A Step-by-Step Guide to Wrapping
A knee injury requires special care. To prevent further injury, it is necessary to wrap the knee to protect it, especially during sports or rigorous activities. If an injured knee is not wrapped correctly, even more damage can be done. It doesn't take very long and it's not very difficult to wrap a knee injury for maximum protection.Things You'll Need
- Medicated gauze pad
- Gauze wrap
- Self-adhesive knee bandage
Instructions
Place a gauze pad over the knee in the location of the injury.
Apply gauze wrap around the knee in a figure eight pattern. Repeat this 12 times.
Wrap a knee bandage several times around the leg, starting 6 inches above the kneecap. Wrap the bandage down the leg, continuing in a figure eight around the knee.
End the wrapping above the kneecap after applying four layers. The self-adhesive wrap with simply stick securing to itself. If the bandage purchased is not self-adhesive, use three small safety pins to attach the end of the wrap with the layer of the wrap beneath it.
