Protecting Dancers' Feet: A Comprehensive Guide to Foot Wrapping
A dancer's foot is subject to a number of ailments unknown to many. Bruising, bleeding, blisters and sprains are common injuries endured by dancers. Because of this, it's important for dancers to protect their feet and be knowledgeable about the proper ways to wrap feet before injuries occur or to medicate injured feet.Things You'll Need
- White Medical Tape
- Mole Skin
- Epsom Salt
- Hydrogen Peroxide
- Toe Spacer
- Toe Cover
Instructions
Clip toenails short and in clean lines. All cuts and blisters should also be cleaned in warm water with Epsom salt or with hydrogen peroxide and properly medicated with an antibacterial cream. Cover all blisters and cuts with bandages or mole skin to avoid friction with your shoes.
Use white medical tape to wrap feet. Start at the big toe by wrapping the tape around the big toe from below the joint up to the toe nail. Repeat this step on the second toe and the pinky toe. Perform this on both feet.
Use the toe spacer between the big toe and the second toe.
Use the toe pad to cover all toes.
Cover the back of the ankles and heels with mole skin to avoid blisters or rubbing against dance shoes.
Adjust the wrapping as needed, so that you feel completely comfortable within your shoe. If you feel discomfort, it will not only affect your dancing, but it can cause an injury.
