Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are not contagious after treatment. UTIs are caused by bacteria that enter the urinary tract through the urethra. Once the bacteria are in the urinary tract, they can cause an infection. Antibiotics are used to treat UTIs by killing the bacteria.
