Navel & Urinary System: What's the Connection?
The navel, also known as the belly button or umbilicus, is not directly connected to the urinary system. However, during embryonic development, the urachus, a small tubular structure, connects the bladder to the umbilicus. This connection usually closes before birth, leaving a fibrous cord called the median umbilical ligament. Therefore, the navel is no longer directly linked to the urinary system in a fully developed human body.
