- Sterile Container for the Urine Sample
- Alcohol Swab
- Antibacterial Soap
Instructions
Use a sterile container to store the urine sample. This is usually provided by the physician or lab.
Wash your handles with warm water and an antibacterial soap to prevent your hands from introducing foreign matter or bacteria.
When you open the container, make sure not to touch the inside of the container and set the lid so the inner surface faces up.
Clean the area around the genitals using an alcohol swab. For males, this is the tip of the ****. For females, open the folds of the labia and wipe front to back.
Urinate into the toilet a few seconds before urinating in the sample cup.
Keep urinating until you have filled the cup enough to give a sufficient sample. If your not sure how much will be needed, fill the cup up if you can.
Put the lid back on the container without touching the inside of the lid or container.
