Typhoid Fever Duration: Symptoms, Recovery & Carrier Status
The duration of typhoid fever can vary depending on the individual and the severity of the infection. On average, symptoms of typhoid fever can last for 2 to 4 weeks if left untreated. In some cases, the symptoms may subside after a few days or may persist for longer, up to 6 weeks or more.
After the initial symptoms, some individuals may enter a carrier state, where they continue to carry the bacteria responsible for typhoid fever but do not exhibit symptoms themselves. Carriers can still transmit the bacteria to others, posing a risk of spreading the infection.
Early diagnosis and appropriate antibiotic treatment are essential for reducing the duration of symptoms and the risk of complications.
