Plantar Fasciitis and Work: Causes, Symptoms & Prevention
Plantar fasciitis is the irritation and inflammation of the plantar fascia, the band of tissue along the arch of the foot that connects the heel bone to the toes. It may or may not be a result of working conditions.-
Symptoms

Symptoms of plantar fasciitis include a burning, stabbing pain in the arch or at the heel of the foot that is usually worse right after waking.
Causes

Plantar fasciitis can be caused by wearing improper footwear, poor biomechanics or pronation (inward roll) of the feet.
Risk Factors

Persons who are overweight, pregnant or perform activities that involve running, jumping or a lot of walking are at a higher risk for developing the condition.
Treatment

Treatment for plantar fasciitis includes rest, icing the sore area, massage, stretching, wearing a night splint and physical therapy.
Prevention
-
To prevent plantar fasciitis, wear proper footwear, strengthen the muscles in the arch of the foot and lose weight if necessary.
