Sebaceous and Sweat Glands: Functions & Location in Skin

1) Sebaceous glands are located in the dermis and secrete sebum, an oily substance that lubricates the skin and hair. Sebum also helps to protect the skin from water loss and infection.

2) Sweat glands are also located in the dermis and secrete sweat, a clear fluid that helps to regulate body temperature. Sweat also contains electrolytes and other minerals that can help to keep the skin hydrated.
