Instructions for ChloraPrep
ChloraPrep is an antiseptic gel used on patients prior to surgical procedures. It essentially sterilizes the operating area, discouraging outside pathogens such as viruses and bacteria from causing infection and possible post-operation illness.Take the time to apply ChloraPrep correctly, as it provides an important line of defense during surgery; improperly applied gel will leave the patient vulnerable to possible infection---not a conducive state for successful surgery.
Instructions
Wash the area with soap and water, then dry it as much as possible. You may not be able to dry all areas completely---some open wounds will always remain wet.
Open the packet of ChloraPrep, taking care not to touch the enclosed applicator.
Brush the ChloraPrep onto a dry area for around 30 seconds. Let it dry off; do not blot it or wipe it away.
Brush the ChlorPrep onto a moist area for about two minutes. Leave it alone for around one minute. Again, do not wipe it away, but rather allow it to set into the area and sterilize it.
