When does moderate and severe inflammatory types of acne occur?
Moderate inflammatory acne:
* Occurs when there are more than 10 inflammatory lesions (papules, pustules, nodules) on the face, or more than 5 on the back or chest.
Severe inflammatory acne:
* Occurs when there are more than 20 inflammatory lesions on the face, or more than 10 on the back or chest.
* May be associated with deep, painful nodules and cysts.
* Can lead to scarring.
