How to Relieve Restless Legs
Ever feel a creepy-crawly, tingling sensation in the backs of your legs that keeps you from relaxing or sleeping? If taking medication seems like an extreme solution, give simple stretching a try.Things You'll Need
- A belt or thick elastic band
Instructions
Lie on the floor on your back with your knees bent and feet a foot or two away from your bottom.
Holding the belt or band on either end with both hands, lift up your right foot and press the ball of the foot against the middle of the belt.
Extend your right foot up, pushing the heel towards the ceiling and straightening your leg. Maintain pressure on the belt, pulling it lightly towards the floor. Be sure to keep your shoulders flush to the floor.
Breathe evenly and deeply through your nose, focusing on pushing through your heel on the exhale. You should feel a stretching sensation behind your leg.
Maintain this position for as long as several minutes, gradually increasing the angle of your leg.
Remove the belt from around your right foot and place the foot back on the floor.
Repeat Steps 2 through 6 with your left foot.
