How to Clean a ResMed Mask
A ResMed mask is an overnight breathing mask intended to deliver oxygen to the wearer while he is sleeping. It is commonly used to treat sleep apnea and other respiratory disorders that can occur or worsen during sleep. The mask requires daily cleaning, as well as a more intense weekly cleaning to prevent the buildup of bodily fluids in the mask and the spread of germs.Things You'll Need
- Unscented liquid dish soap
- Washcloth
- Towel
Instructions
Fill the sink with warm water. Add enough liquid dish soap to create suds. Agitate the water to mix the soap in completely
Unhook the mask from the air tubing. Submerge the headgear in the soapy water. Use the washcloth to gently scrub the inside and outside of the mask.
Drain the sink. Rinse the mask in warm water. Place the mask on a clean towel to air-dry. Do not place the mask in direct sunlight because it may degrade the mask materials.
Separate the mask components. This process will vary with your specific mask model. Wash the mask parts separately in the warm, soapy water once a week. Rinse and air-dry the pieces in the same way you would the whole mask, then reassemble the parts.
