Tetanus Symptoms: Recognizing and Understanding the Signs
Symptoms of tetanus usually develop within 10 days of infection and can include:
- Stiffness of the jaw muscles (lockjaw), which makes it difficult to open the mouth and swallow
- Stiffness of the neck and back muscles
- Difficulty swallowing
- Headache
- Fever
- Sweating
- Anxiety
- Restlessness
- Irritability
- Muscle spasms, which can be very painful and may occur throughout the body
