How to Use the Advair Machine

Advair is a powdered inhalation medication in a diskus, a circular plastic disc. It has a built-in mouthpiece that delivers a measured dose. The disc contains a meter that indicates how many doses remain.

Instructions

  Hold the diskus in one hand in front of your face horizontally.

  Place the thumb of your free hand on the thumbpiece. Push it as far as it will go.

  Listen for a "click."

  Push the lever again. Listen for a second "click." A dose is ready.

  Exhale through your mouth.

  Close your lips around the mouthpiece. Inhale through your mouth to carry the medication to your lungs.

  Remove the diskus from your mouth. Hold your breath for 10 seconds.

  Press the thumbpiece toward you until the mouthpiece retracts and the diskus closes. It is ready for the next dose.

  Rinse your mouth with water. Spit the water out.
