Gentamicin Dosage and Administration: IV & IM Guidelines

Intravenous (IV):

- Initial loading dose: 3-5 mg/kg

- Maintenance dose: 1.5-2.5 mg/kg every 8 hours

- Maximum daily dose: 6-7.5 mg/kg

Intramuscular (IM):

- Initial loading dose: 3-5 mg/kg (higher than IV due to lower bioavailability)

- Maintenance dose: 1.5-2.5 mg/kg every 8-12 hours

- Maximum daily dose: 6-7.5 mg/kg

*Note: Dosing should be adjusted based on the patient's renal function, as gentamycin is primarily renally excreted.*
