Syringe Cleaning: Risks & Proper Disposal Methods
Cleaning a used syringe with rubbing alcohol alone does not guarantee complete sterilization and disinfection. While rubbing alcohol has antibacterial properties, it may not be effective against all microorganisms, including bacterial spores and some viruses. To properly sterilize a used syringe and ensure the elimination of potential diseases, follow these steps:
> Do not attempt to reuse syringes under any circumstances. Sharps should always be disposed of in an appropriate sharps container. Always use sterile, single-use needles and syringes for injection purposes.
Sterilization is not recommended for non-medical personnel unless properly trained.
