What are the stages of OCD?
There are typically four stages of OCD:
1. Obsessions: These are recurring, unwanted thoughts, images, or urges. They can cause extreme anxiety or distress.
2. Compulsions: These are repetitive behaviors or mental acts that a person performs in response to their obsessions. They temporarily reduce anxiety, but they can increase in frequency and severity over time.
3. Avoidance: This is the act of avoiding situations or objects that trigger obsessions or compulsions. This can lead to social isolation and difficulty functioning in everyday life.
4. Impairment: This is when OCD symptoms interfere with a person's ability to work, go to school, or maintain relationships. It can also lead to significant physical and mental health problems.
