What other problems could people with nail-patella syndrome have?
In addition to the characteristic nail and knee problems, people with nail-patella syndrome may also have:
- Elbow problems, such as dislocation or restricted movement
- Hip problems, such as dislocation or restricted movement
- Eye problems, such as glaucoma, cataracts, or nystagmus (involuntary eye movement)
- Hearing problems, such as sensorineural hearing loss (damage to the inner ear)
- Kidney problems, such as kidney stones or kidney failure
- Gastrointestinal problems, such as gastroesophageal reflux (GERD) or inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
- Dental problems, such as missing or malformed teeth
- Learning disabilities, such as intellectual disability or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
