DIY Microwavable Herbal Heating Pad: Soothe Aches Naturally
The application of heat to an achy muscle is an often-used practice, as many feel that the heat on the injured area helps to alleviate the pain of the ache. By creating a microwavable herbal wrap, you will have a pad that will soothe and comfort when it is applied and give off a pleasant aroma.Things You'll Need
- Soft fabric, 24-by-14 inch swatch
- Needle
- Thread
- 3 cups various herbs
- Mixing bowl
- 12 cups cornmeal
- Aromatherapy oil
- Microwave
Instructions
Fold the fabric in half lengthwise, so that it is 12-by-14 inches.
Sew the 14-inch sides shut with the needle and thread, creating a pocket in conjunction with the fold.
Mix the herbs of your choosing together thoroughly in the mixing bowl. Try herbs like lavender, chamomile or lemon balm. Creating a smaller mix of herbs to find a mix you like is a great way to find your favorite recipe, then simply expand the proportions to make your 3 cups.
Add the cornmeal to the bowl along with 30 drops of aromatherapy oil and mix thoroughly with the herbs.
Pour the mix into the pouch and sew the final open end shut tight.
Microwave the pouch before use. Most microwaves will require around 2 minutes on high for an ideal temperature, but a microwave's performance may vary, along with your desired temperature, so adjust your time as needed.
