Shoulder Tendon Repair Alternatives: Using Gracilis Tendon Graft

In cases where the tendon is torn beyond repair, alternatives such as tendon grafting may be considered. One technique involves using tissue called the "gracilis tendon" from the inner thigh. This tendon can be transferred to replace the torn shoulder tendon. The surgeon detaches the gracilis tendon along with a small piece of bone and inserts it into the shoulder, replacing the torn tendon and allowing for healing.
