What are the three types of muscles?
There are three main types of muscles in the human body:
Skeletal muscle: Skeletal muscles are attached to bones and are responsible for voluntary movement. These are the muscles you think of when you think of "muscles." They are responsible for all of the movements that you consciously control, such as walking, talking, and lifting objects.
Smooth muscle: Smooth muscles are found in the walls of internal organs, such as the stomach, intestines, and blood vessels. They are responsible for involuntary movements, such as digestion and the regulation of blood pressure.
Cardiac muscle: Cardiac muscle is found only in the heart. It is responsible for the pumping action of the heart, which circulates blood throughout the body.
