Superficial muscles of forearm
There are eight superficial muscles of the forearm, divided into two groups:
* The anterior muscles of the forearm include the:
* Pronator teres: flexes and pronates the forearm.
* Flexor carpi radialis: flexes and abducts the hand.
* Palmaris longus: tenses palmar aponeurosis; sometimes absent.
* Flexor carpi ulnaris: flexes and adducts the hand.
* The posterior muscles of the forearm include the:
* Supinator: supinates the forearm.
* Extensor carpi radialis longus: extends and abducts the hand.
* Extensor carpi radialis brevis: extends and abducts the hand.
* Extensor carpi ulnaris: extends and adducts the hand.
