Do fitter people have more muscle fibers?
Not necessarily.
The total number of muscle fibers a person has is largely determined by genetics. However, exercise can cause existing muscle fibers to grow larger (increase in cross-sectional area) and stronger. This is what leads to increased muscle mass and strength.
