Novo Ketorolac for Migraines: Effectiveness & Usage

Novo ketorolac, most commonly simply referred to as ketorolac, is used to treat moderately severe pain. It is usually prescribed after surgery. It is also sometimes used, usually as a last resort, for the treatment of migraines.
  1. Orally

    • Ketorolac is normally prescribed in its tablet form, to be taken orally.

    Injection

    • In the event of severe migraines, ketorolac may be injected in its parenteral form, which begins lessening the pain almost immediately.

    Study

    • The Harvard Medical School in Boston studied the benefit of injecting ketorolac into patients suffering from migraines, finding it successful in nine of the 14 study participants.

    Avoidance

    • Use of ketorolac should be seen as a last resort and should be avoided as much as possible, due to the possibility of side effects, which increase with dosage and duration of use.

    Proper Use

    • Follow proper dosage as given by your physician. Take the tablet with a meal and a glass of water. For self-administered shots, make sure to get proper training in how to inject.
