Evaluating Myasthenia Gravis Treatment Effectiveness: What to Expect
Muscle strength testing
Your doctor may perform muscle strength testing to assess your muscle strength and whether it has improved with treatment.
Neurological exams
Your doctor may perform neurological exams to check for signs of improvement, such as changes in muscle tone, reflexes, and coordination.
Electrodiagnostic studies
Electrodiagnostic studies, such as electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies, may be used to evaluate the electrical activity of your muscles and nerves and to monitor your response to treatment.
Acetylcholine receptor antibody levels
If you have myasthenia gravis caused by antibodies that attack the acetylcholine receptors, your doctor may measure the levels of these antibodies in your blood to monitor your response to treatment.
Other tests
Your doctor may order other tests, such as blood tests, imaging studies, or genetic testing, to monitor your overall health and to rule out other conditions that could be contributing to your symptoms.
