How to Take Ketoconazole

Take a Ketoconazole pill once a day by mouth and finish the entire prescription. Do not exceed the prescribed dose. If you miss a dose take the tablet as soon as you remember. Ketoconazole is also sold in gels, foams, creams and shampoos. Follow your pharmacist's directions.
Side Effects

Common side effects include nausea and stomach pain. Contact your health care provider immediately if you experience depression, irregular heartbeat, fever, numbness or a severe allergic reaction.

Ketoconazole may cause liver damage. Tell your doctor if you have a history of excessive alcohol consumption or if you have liver problems. Tell your doctor all of the medications you are taking to avoid a serious drug interaction.
