How to Adjust a Respironics REMstarPlus
A Respironics REMstarPlus is a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machine that removes carbon dioxide and delivers oxygen to one who suffers from sleep apnea, a condition by which one stops breathing while asleep from a couple of seconds to two minutes, several times a night. The REMstarPlus is a small machine that pumps air to a mask placed directly over the nose and mouth.
Instructions
Locate the panel door cover at the top-front of the machine and look at the buttons on the panel.
Power the machine on or off by pressing the button that looks like a broken circle with a vertical line sticking up.
Adjust the fit of the mask by sliding the adjusters on the straps.
Activate the "Ramp" feature by pressing the button that looks like a small ramp. This lowers the air pressure while you fall asleep and gradually raises it once you are asleep.
Push the "Plus" (+) or "Minus" (-) button on the "C-Flex" setting to change the pressure of the air coming through your mask. Consult with your doctor to determine the best setting.
