Constipation: When to Seek Medical Advice - Symptoms & Duration
If you've been constipated for more than three weeks, see your doctor. See your doctor sooner if:
-Stools are consistently hard, dry or small
-You have severe pain in your abdomen or rectum
-You have rectal bleeding
-You feel sick or vomit.
-constipation is accompanied by unexplained weight loss or a fever
-There is blood in the stool
-Bowel movements are accompanied by nausea and/or vomiting
-Constipation lasts more than a few days
