Nephrons in the Kidney: Location and Function

The nephrons are the microscopic functional units of the kidneys. Each kidney contains millions of nephrons. The nephrons are located in the renal cortex and renal medulla. The renal cortex is the outer part of the kidney, and the renal medulla is the inner part of the kidney. The nephrons are responsible for filtering the blood and producing urine.
