Can you have contractions in the first trimester?
It is possible to experience uterine contractions during the first trimester of pregnancy. These contractions, also known as Braxton Hicks contractions, are usually mild and irregular. They are a normal part of pregnancy and do not usually pose any health concerns. Braxton Hicks contractions typically begin around the sixth week of pregnancy and may continue throughout the entire pregnancy. They are thought to help prepare the uterus for labor.
If you are experiencing contractions that are severe or painful, or if you are concerned about them, it is important to talk to your doctor.
