1. Ovaries
-Eggs produced in the ovaries through the process of oogenesis.
-Each ovary contains multiple follicles that contain immature eggs.
2. Fallopian tubes
-During ovulation, a mature egg is released from one of the ovaries.
-The egg is transported to the fallopian tubes by the fimbriae, finger-like projections at the ends of the tubes.
3. Uterus
-If fertilization occurs within the fallopian tubes, the fertilized egg continues traveling toward the uterus.
-The fertilized egg, now known as a blastocyst, will eventually implant into the lining of the uterus.
4. Vagina
-If implantation does not occur, the blastocyst and accompanying uterine lining will be shed during menstruation.
-Menstrual blood and tissue are expelled from the uterus through the cervix and out of the body through the vagina.
