Pregnancy After Tubal Ligation: Understanding the Rare Possibility
It is extremely rare, but possible, for someone to get pregnant after having their tubes tied. This can happen if the fallopian tubes grow back together or if the surgery was not performed correctly. Additionally, a pregnancy could occur outside the fallopian tubes (for example, in the abdomen) where fallopian tubal ligation has no effect.
If you have had your tubes tied and are concerned about possible pregnancy, it is important to see your doctor for a pregnancy test.
