Understanding Fluid Leakage at 37 Weeks: Could This Be Your Water?
Leaking amniotic fluid, even if it's not a steady stream, can be a sign that your water has broken and that you're in the early stages of labor. Other signs of labor can include:
Cramps or tightenings in your abdomen or back that come and go and gradually increase in intensity
A bloody show, which is a small amount of blood mixed with mucus
Increased pressure or a pushing down feeling in your pelvis
Dizziness or lightheadedness
Feeling a strong urge to pee
If you're experiencing a loss of fluid, it's important to call your doctor or midwife right away, even if you're not sure if it's amniotic fluid. It's always better to be safe than sorry. Your doctor or midwife can perform a simple test to check if the fluid is amniotic fluid and may also recommend other tests to monitor your progress.
