Understanding the Community-Acquired Bacterial Pneumonia (CABP) Performance Measure (Code 1026F)
Measure Numerator: In the denominator population (all pneumonia inpatients), patients with community-acquired bacterial pneumonia with:
* Initial antibiotic treatment started in the ED or within 24 hours of hospital admission
* Time from symptom onset to ED arrival/hospital admission >24 hours
* No evidence of aspiration and/or altered mental status on presentation
* No active TB or other specific pneumonia or other specific pneumonia
OR
In the denominator population (all pneumonia inpatients), patients with initial antibiotic treatment started >24 hours after hospital admission and:
* Pneumonia diagnosed at least 48 hours after hospital admission
* Time from symptom onset to ED arrival/hospital admission >24 hours
* No evidence of aspiration and/or altered mental status on presentation
* No active TB or other specific pneumonia or other specific pneumonia
